Several people have posted comments here referring to a local township where a wholesale change to council occurred, spearheaded by a ratepayer group.
I believe, from what little I have been able to find out, the township might have been Augusta. I'd like to hear from anyone with first hand knowledge of the history of that story. What was the situation before council was replaced? What was the motivation behind the takeover by the ratepayer group? And what happened later?

Just Curious: I was checking your profile, out of curiosity. Is Clive your real name? Would you be willing to share your last name?
How about,,,,,,,Would you be intersted in sharing your intentions as to how you plan to vote in the upcoming election Clive? Anyone???
That should generate some interesting conversation!
:-)
Just Curious: Is Just your real first name? ;)
I'm willing to share personal information if and when I'm comfortable knowing where it's going and how it's going to be used... many people in the township know who I am.
Recognising that you might want to get in touch without posting publicly, you can email me at doggerelparty@gmail.com.
No Clive,,,,,,"Just" is not my real name. Sorry if I caused any confusion with that. :-)
I didn't have any plans to "use" that information. I was simply curious. {and no again,,,,"simply" is not my name either. :-)
Darn... Just Curious would have been such a cool name.
Sharing voting intentions? Interesting idea... I was actually planning a star rating guide, with pros and cons for each candidate and stars out of five, rather than try to direct votes to specific candidates.
I also thought that it might be an idea to have each candidate write a guest post, if they're interested, one per day in the final days of the campaign...
When I started this I didn't expect to get more than a handful of readers... but since it seems to be quite popular, I'd like the candidates to have the chance to use the platform that seems to have developed.
